Privacy Policy
Last updated 18 October 2026
More Techies Ltd ("we", "us") runs More Techies Academy at academy.moretechies.co. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we use it, who we share it with and the rights you have. We handle personal data in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.
1. Who is responsible for your data
More Techies Ltd, 13 Oluwole Street, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos, Nigeria, is the controller of the personal data described here. You can reach us about privacy at hello@moretechies.co.
2. What we collect
- Account details: your name, email address, password (stored in protected, hashed form), country and the optional profile and set-up answers you give us.
- Purchases: what you bought, the amount, currency, date, any coupon used and your payment status. Card and bank details are entered with our payment provider and are not stored by us.
- Learning activity: lessons you watch or complete, quiz attempts and scores, assignments and files you upload, notes you write, certificates you earn, attendance at live sessions, and your wishlist.
- Communication: messages you send to support or in study pods, your answers to Pathfinder, and your notification and email preferences.
- Affiliate applications and accounts: if you apply to be an affiliate, the details on your application (name, contact details, social profiles, how you plan to promote), your referral activity and sales, and the payout details you give us.
- Technical data: your device and browser type, pages visited, and an approximate location from your network address, used to show prices in the right currency and to keep the service secure. For referral links we keep a one-way scrambled fingerprint of your network and browser, never your raw address, to detect fraud.
3. Why we use your data
- To provide the Academy (contract): create and run your account, deliver courses, mark assignments, issue and verify certificates, process payments and give support.
- To communicate with you (contract and legitimate interest): confirmations, password and account emails, reminders, replies from the team and, where you allow it, announcements. You can control optional notifications in your settings.
- To run the affiliate programme (contract and legitimate interest): review applications, track referrals, calculate and pay commission and prevent fraud.
- To keep the service safe and improve it (legitimate interest): prevent abuse, fix problems and understand which pages and features are used.
- To meet legal obligations: keep financial records and respond to lawful requests.
- With your consent, where the law requires it, for example optional marketing emails and push notifications. You can withdraw consent at any time.
4. Who we share data with
We do not sell your personal data. We use trusted service providers who process data for us under their own security commitments:
- Supabase: database, sign-in and file storage.
- Vercel: website hosting and privacy-friendly usage analytics.
- Bachs: payment processing.
- Resend: sending service and account emails.
- Flodesk: email marketing and reminders, if you have given us your email address.
- Browser and device push services: delivering push notifications you have turned on.
- Google Fonts: loading the typefaces used on the site.
Your name may be shown to other learners in features you choose to use, such as study pods. When you earn a certificate, your name, the course and the issue date can be checked by anyone who has the certificate code. We may also share information where the law requires it or to protect our rights and users.
5. Cookies and similar technology
- Essential: keeping you signed in and remembering things like your theme preference.
- Referral cookie: if you arrive through an affiliate's link we store a small cookie for a limited time so the affiliate is credited if you buy. It does not change your price.
- Analytics: aggregated usage statistics to help us improve the site.
You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings. Some features, such as staying signed in, will not work without the essential ones.
6. Transfers outside Nigeria
Some of our providers store or process data in other countries. Where that happens we rely on providers that apply appropriate safeguards, in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act.
7. How long we keep data
- Account and learning data: for as long as your account is open.
- Payment records: for as long as needed for accounting, tax and legal reasons, even after an account is deleted. They are then no longer linked to you.
- Certificates already issued remain verifiable with the name printed on them.
- Affiliate records: while you are an affiliate and for as long as needed to settle payments and resolve disputes.
You can delete your account from your dashboard settings. This removes your personal data apart from the records described above.
8. Your rights
You can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to some uses of it, move it to another service, or withdraw consent you gave. Email hello@moretechies.co and we will respond as the law requires. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
9. Security
We protect your data with access controls, encrypted connections and limited staff access. No online service is completely secure, so please use a strong, unique password and keep it private.
10. Children
The Academy is meant for adults and young people who have a parent's or guardian's consent to use it. If you are under 18, please ask a parent or guardian to help you sign up. If you think a child has given us data without consent, contact us and we will remove it.
11. Changes
We may update this policy. When we make a significant change we will tell you, for example by email or a notice on the site. The date at the top shows the latest version. See also our Refund Policy.
